That tester does AFCI also. My anemometer has never lost its calibration.

Oh it does AFCI's! I never couldn't find data to say that it did. I definitely like the set up of yours more than the newer version. I'm just letting you know my experience with testing anemometers.

HA!! In CA its as common as a chip and a chair .....I would suggest the normal ITA/or similar combined tool chest but whos to say you might not need a fly swat at one point!!! I hear about guys that have Moisture Meters...Infra-Red Cameras...Voltage Testers and such but if you read your SOP these are not required for a typical home inspection. I am guilty of having to many tools myself but if ever it comes up you should darn sure be able to back not only your credentials in using any certain tool but also why didnt you fully evaluate everything else....You follow me???? Im sure a few Attorneys know what im talking about.
Example: You go into a home and see that there is a moisture stain on the ceiling and you take out your non required moisture meter and get a reading that suggest a leak in the roof and you report it...happy as a clam you are because you were helping out the client with your non-required equipment. Then... you get a call...The attorney/client is now asking why did you not also use a temperature gauge when testing the hall bath that someone got scalded in. Does this make sense....Only in CA does it!!! Ask Keith. NON Envasive....anything else is not a home inspection in my opinion. Just My Opinion....YaKnow...Where that goes Paul Pendley Premier Property Inspections premierpropertyinspections.net |

We're unfortunately in the sue happiest state. Having heard quite a few of Keith's stories, I can definitely say this place is nuts!

Well, CA must be different. Personally I don't understand why anybody lives there, but that is just me.
For VA, I could not agree with Paul less. I am doing home inspections, not running away from what I think might become a lawsuit forged by some slip-and-fall ambulance chaser. The more arrows I have in my quiver to make me a more competent and complete inspector the better. As with everything, I give it 100%. If someone wants to sue me for giving it my best shot, then have a nice time. If that is different in CA, then it is different. But, geez, what isn't different there? P.s. I would report a wet ceiling stain as a wet ceiling stain, including the moisture meter reading and the IR photo to back up the finding. My client and/or realtor ALWAYS see the moisture meter reading to back it up. I would NEVER report a roof leak unless I could document the leak's source. The stain could be from squirrel pee. Smart reporting is relevant too... (;>) |
