(Casey's answer) A. Nominal 1- or 2-inch-thick members connecting opposite roof rafters. They serve to stiffen the roof structure.

This is the kinda stuff I like. Actually Casey it was a trick question. It's actually called a Collar Tie. Beams support something. What's a Collar beam? Collar ties don't support anything, they tie together to prevent uplift, seperation which a beam doesn't do. Marcel, since it was a trick question, do I win for identifying it.
