TOPIC: Last One To Post Wins!!

Re: Last One To Post Wins!! 14 years 3 months ago #40770

Marcel & Jeff thanks I will visit more often how you guys doing? I have reservations about getting my back operated on for the time being I can manage the pain with Meds, If it turns for the worst I will have the option of getting shots epidural then going under the knife as the later of the two either way I can not do much lifting... 8)

Fair to middlin'... been a slow, long winter, but things are finally picking up.

Care to share what the diagnosis was? I had two back surgeries in the late 80's. Just curious. Not trying to pry.

Slow and easy! Don't push yourself too hard. Glad you had sense enough to limit your activities. That was the most difficult thing for me to get used too... not the "knowing my limitations", but "listening to them". Guess I'm too damned stubborn.

ok here it is a fractured vertebrae in my back to the at the L3 to along with a bulging disc at the L4 L5 that is affecting the S1. they also found moderate disc degeneration on the T10,T11,T12. The Dr./Surgeon is a good Dr. he is from UCSD but I asked him what he could do he wants to fuse my L3,L4,L5 together which will give me very little movement in my back and insert some little type of pads where the disc are to absorb shock along with that do some work on my upper back but arthritis is setting in. When I asked him how will I come out he said there is no Guarantee how I will come out but for sure any manual labor of any kind will be out of the question.

Wow, that really sux Louie. My problem pales in comparison. I had a buldging disc (L3-L4) that ruptured and crushed my spinal cord. I was parylized from the waist down. I had been to 13 doctors and none of them could decide what exactly the problem was. (didn't know disc ruptured, yet). The 14th Dr. basically told me I was f****d in the head, as he couldn't find anything either, BUT, as I was only 26, he decided to admit me for exploratory surgery. That's when they found the ruptured disc. Anyway, 32 days in hospital, 3 months with crutches, walker, and custom shoes w/leg braces and they told me I would only be back 60% if lucky and only lift 20 lbs. BS!!! I didn't accept that, and am back to 80% and 100 lbs lifting (that's all a ladder weighs, right?).

Second surgury was for a deep infection a year later (stiches didn't disolve completely).

Anyway, I'm only telling you this so you can see I understand what you are going through. If you ever need to chat or whatever, just let me know.

Best wishes my friend!

Thanks Jeff
plus then there is my right Leg which I tore open the Dr. did not put me together right 81 stitches cut it to the muscles all the Dr did was clean it up and stitched me up the tendons nerve that never healed right that gives a sharp pain from time to time. I had other Dr's look at it and said they could do more damage by trying to fix the problem. Oh well I guess that is the way it goes...

Hey Guys, glad you're liking the forum increase. I moved the whole site to a new server. Something I've wanted to get done for years but haven't had the time. Should solve a lot of speed issues and give me the ability to do a lot more updates.
