		Anyone ever see an outlet like this?  I've never seen a recessed outlet like this and just thought it was neat. Anyone know when they were primarily used and why they were recessed (This one was about 7 feet up on the wall in the kitchen).

		Sure - it is a clock outlet, made that way so a plug-in clock could be hung in front of it leaving room for the plug and a short cord.  Very common, especially in commercial settings such as schools, etc.  I believe you can still buy them, but they are not too popular anymore because most clocks are battery operated.

		Yup, they're used now more for mounting flat panel tv's on the wall. Though they'd be grounded for that application!

		The Home Depot stills sells them. Dom is right. They just installed one at a cabin of mine for the TV on the wall.
