I'm in the process of testing some professional level PDF software. (I write software reviews as a hobby) I have run into this problem a few times. When I go to open an inspection report in the PDF editor it tells me that this document is "password protected" and asked me if I want to open it up for editing and then requests a password. What password? I never set a password that I'm aware of. If it's some point there was one, how I find it, change it or remove it entirely if I wish?
I've also had this issue when coordinating on an inspection and sending my portion of the .hzf file to the co-inspector for merging. He is had this issue as well with it occasionally requiring a password. I understand the reason for the security but if I didn't set it and create a password, I'm kind of screwed if I want to go back and edit the report. Yes, I know I can edit the report within HIP and just create a new report that wastes a lot of time and effort to just make a minor correction. |

Thanks, I'll look at that.
Okay, only option is to have it on or not. Still does not tell me the password or allow me to set my own. Does HIP have a default password? |

It isn't password protected when you uncheck that option.
HIP has a password , but its a secret. If you are familiar with Adobe you can change the security after you make your changes. |

I get that. Unchecking the box removes the password. That's a no-brainer. The issue I have is that it's MY work product and I should have control of the password, not HIP.
I would not send out a report without security enabled BUT I want to control it, not someone else. |
