Can you defrag while using the computer? What is the best way to defrag and what is an average length of time for it to complete?

You can run it while using the computer but it'll slow the whole process down and won't do a complete job as it can't move files in use. Best to let it run at midnight. It can take a few minutes to a few hours to complete depending on how often you defrag. I run it once a week. There's other programs that do a better job than the windows defrag program, but it does a decent enough job.
